Each year thousands of moms decide that they would love to have better jobs. Unfortunately, for many this will not be a reality because they lack the necessary education to move up to a different career. Now, thanks to the inclusion of government scholarships for moms in the stimulus package, there are plenty of government funds available for moms to go to college and earn the degree that will help them secure a better paying job.

President Obama believes strongly that all Americans deserve a chance at higher education. He also realizes that people with better education are able to have better jobs which keeps them from relying on government supplements. This is why he included an increased amount of money specifically for government scholarships in the stimulus package.

Think of what a better job and education could get you:

* New and exciting career

* Better paying job

* Job-related benefits such as health care, vacations, and retirement

* Advancement and promotions

* A better likelihood that your children will pursue a college education

* Feeling of self-worth

With a government scholarship for moms, you could be awarded up to $9,000.00 per school year to return to classes and make the dream of a better job your reality. The process is simple. The first thing you need to do is go online and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You can then submit it right online. In no time you will have your award letter which states how much money you will be receiving. With that money you can pay your tuition, books and any other expenses you may have. For example, you could pay for child care, commuting to and from school, even your electric bill!

There is no time like the present to begin your journey towards a new job and a college degree. Get started today!

The Pell Grant gives students the opportunity to receive free College funding. The Pell Grant is provided by the federal government and is given to low-income students. Undergraduate students that attend a qualified post-secondary education are eligible to receive a Pell Grant. If you are a student that would like to apply for the Pell Grant, then you must complete the FAFSA application.

The FAFSA determines how much money your family should contribute to your education based on the current income/assets. The lower your EFC score, they higher the chances are that you will receive a Pell Grant Award. If you plan to attend a community college or a four year university and would like free government money, then you should definitely think about completing the FAFSA application in order to be eligible for the Pell Grant.

Students with an EFC score of zero will get the maximum Pell Grant amount, which is $5,350 for the 2009-2010 school year. An EFC score of zero means that your family is unable to contribute any money towards your post-secondary education. IF you have an EFC score higher than 0, the Pell Grant Calculation can be used to determine how much money you will receive. There is also a Pell Grant Gantt Charts that shows a breakdown between EFC score and the Pell Grant

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, American legislature approved to give more than $17 billion towards the Pell Grant program. This additional money increased the Pell Grant amount each year for the next two years and was implemented to allow more low to moderate income families to opportunity to send their child to college.

Take the test only when you are ready.

Standardized tests measure the same skills in the same way every time. The exact questions will be different, but the content you need to know will be the same. So, there’s really no point in taking a standardized test if you aren’t ready. If you’re unprepared, you won’t do your best, and you’ll want to take the test again anyway. So why bother? If you’re thinking about taking the test just “to see what it’s like,” take a practice test instead and save the registration fee.

Make sure that you have time to prepare.
People who know how the test is put together and the best strategies for the questions have a major advantage over those that don’t. So make sure that you budget some time to prepare. Some people have an easier time studying during the school year, but others prefer to study over the summer and take the test in the Fall. Either way is OK, as long as you’re ready to do your best. Be honest about the amount of time you’re willing to spend preparing, and make the commitment! It’ll pay off in points on test day.

Take the test early enough to report your scores.
Getting your application in early is always good, but most admissions offices won’t look at an application until that application is “complete,” which means it has to include all required test scores. So getting your test scores in early is good. (Just make sure you’re prepared!) Taking your test the Spring before you apply will get your scores in on time.

Leave yourself a margin for error.
On test day, you might get sick. Or your car might break down. Or you might just have a bad day. Lots of things that have nothing to do with your ability could affect your test score, and most of those things will lower your score. If your bad day happens on the last possible test date, you’re out of luck; you have to live with a bad score. But if you have another test date ahead of you, then you’ll have another chance to prove your abilities. That’s why it’s best to take the test early rather than late. It’s good to have a backup in case something goes wrong.

Getting a bad score is not a reason to take it again.
So, it’s good to take the test early, but only when you’re prepared. Now, what should you do if you have taken a standardized test and aren’t happy with your score?

Almost everyone wishes they scored at least a little higher. Unless you score perfectly, it’s always possible to do better. But wanting a better score isn’t enough. To be worth the preparation time, aggravation, and the new testing fee, you need a strong reason to believe that you’ll score significantly better.

Ask “what will be different next time?”
If you totally bombed the first test because you were sick, or something unexpected happened that affected your concentration, then go ahead and take it again. But if you were completely prepared the first time, taking it again isn’t likely to make a big difference. Standardized tests are very consistent, so if you don’t do anything differently, then you’re likely to wind up with about the same score. However, if you didn’t prepare well (or at all), then you have much to gain by improving your skills and taking the test again.
